Hi, I have been looking at buying an A4 cab, I have up to 4500 to spend, but would like to be at the lower end of my budget, I unfortunately missed a lovely red A4 cab on an 03 plate at a dealer for £3300 it was a 2.4 with 110k on clock full black leather really nice cond.
i have seen some nice 1.8t's for sale, there is an 04 for sale red, half leather ( would prefer full) with low mileage of 58k but it's up for 6200!
another 1.8T is on an 03 plate with similar miles for 5400, this just seems a lot higher than the original one I saw, surely the mileage would not make 2 or 3 thousand more?
Where can I get hold of some proper pricing books that will take into account the mileage and condition, do the 1.8T demand a higher price, do I ring the dealers up and see if they will drop to a reasonable ( to me) price......
i only paid 7400 for my A4 1.8t Quattro S-line 190 and that was in 2009 with 49k on clock!!!! The cabs don't sell for an awful lot more than the saloons........
what what are your thoughts?
Cheers, Rhen.

Check Auto Trader app or website there are a few quite nice looking A4 cabs between 3500 and 4500. Some with around 67k miles. Check against what you know with the range on offer and remember a cash buyer "may" be able to negotiate a smallish discount on the offer price.

problem is, loads of cars out there are sheds, sketchy history, long life history, been seen 3 times in 70,000 miles, pranged and repaired, dodgy tyres, cheap tyres, curbed alloys, dents, swirl marks, get my drift, not perfect. then you find a minter, a properly looked after car, perfect history, perfect paint, no repairs or small repairs done properly, clean and tidy, clean engine bay. they are few and far between but worth the extra you have to pay, if thats what you want. cheaper ones are generally cheap because they are crap.

Totally agree with you zollaf, it took me around 15 months to buy mine, not that I looked every week. Some I saw, I wouldn't even test drive, but then I found mine. Four new tyres, new brakes almost mint inside, bodywork almost perfect, full service history and a warranty offered. It was even below my budget.
It pays to wait and search, there will always be another car for sale.

Ok, I fully understand Zollaf, there are plenty out there, but only a few nice ones.......Just rang about the 04 red 1.8T cab that's up for £6250, 51k on clock and 1 lady owner, tried high 4's on the phone, basically told no way, would have to start with a 59 at least. Still not sure if I could part with the best part of 6K for an 11 year old car.........

I think you might have to look at your budget. If you wanted mine you'd need to find the best part of 10 k, but then mines an S4.
Popular cars are always that bit more expensive. Plus as it is approaching summer cabriolet cars will be a bit more expensive as for some reason they are pretty popular in the UK.

some people will part with 6 k for a 4 year old car, not an audi, some cheap piece of poo, then run it for a few years and throw it away. an 11 year old cabby for 6 is going to be worth 6 in 5 years, so its actually a really cheap car. like tablets s4, and my s4, it won't ever go down in value. it might even go up a bit and you will always be able to sell it, that is as long as you get a nice one to start with and keep it mint. that 4 k one thats a bit scruffy won't be worth as much in 5 years like the 6k one will.
