Hello all,
I joined you guys yesterday and have posted on one tread ref insurance but felt a proper hello was only right so hi:beerchug:

So a little about why i'm here.... I live in kent, Looking (v hard) to buy an A6 Avant or A4 if i can't find a 6 and where better to come to rub out some doubts and find the answers to what in need to know. So my budget is around £4500-500 at a push due to kids, wife new kitchen all the usual stuff i guess, pref a 2.0 tdi but unsure what gear box s best/cost effective?? had a look on what to look for threads but now I feel i need a vagcom thingy to make sure I don't buy a lemon but as you can guess it would be useless in my hands so will stick to good old fashioned luck.

Anyways look forward to sharing some chat soon and nice to meet you all.

Andy.

Hi Andy and welcome! :)

I'd not be put off by an A6, but your budget looks more A4 if I'm honest. An A6 avant 07+ would cost a minimum of £5k and that would be with 120k+ miles

Audi A6 AVANT 2.0TD SE 5dr (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201502100847318/sort/default/page/2/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/postcode/ta81qd/model/a6_avant/usedcars/make/audi/radius/1500/maximum-age/up_to_9_years_old/fuel-type/diesel?logcode=p)

Sat in an A4 Avant at the weekend and I simply couldn't go back to the size of cabin, after having an A6 saloon for 2.5+yrs

My kids are 11 & 12 so don't at the moment need an avant, but in a couple of years am sure will swap my saloon and buy one.

Much depends on your mileage, type of driving and how long you intend to keep the car?

Good luck!

Hi Mark and thanks,

I hear you and with a growing family i think it would be easier to go strait for the big 6 rather than a n A4. Although looking on internet there are 100k mile'ers to be had on a 2006 and from what I've seen, A4's arnt any cheaper to be honest so I will persivere with hope hence why i need to be careful with what i pick. Hopefully I will be able to show you my fruits of labour but in the mean time if anyone knows one up for grabs i'm interested :D

Regards,
Andy
