Hi
oil pressure low warning came on the display the other day when my girlfriend started the car and she reported lack of power to the point the engine stalled when she set off. In my absence she topped up the engine oil (it was low) and the car was fine for a couple of days. I drove the car yesterday and it was fine at first but after a while there was a definite lack of power as though the clutch hadn't fully disengaged, it felt just as it would if you drove without fully releasing the clutch but the pedal was back to it usual resting point. There has been no warnings on the display since the first time and the problem seems to be intermittent. Incidentally the cruise control stopped working a couple of weeks ago and i wondered if this could be related if it is a clutch problem?
Is this likely to be a clutch or engine oil pressure problem?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated , so thanks in advance.

Pete

Has it used any oil since it was topped up. I'm thinking your rear crank seal might be leaking

Thanks for the reply
just checked the oil level and its just where it should be but it has lost a bit of oil in the last few months. If it is the crank seal are there any other tell tale signs to look out for and whats the damage ££££? The car is due a service but the oil looks clean that is in there

ok, just started the car in nuetral and a grinding noise could be heard , put the clutch in and its ok let the clutch out and commence the grinding noise, ploom of smoke from the exaust and then the car stalled. Doesnt sound good but does sound expensive

that is indicative of a failed dmf. so thats gearbox out, new dmf, clutch and probably rear crank oil seal to be safe.
