Just a couple of quick questions about my 2.0TFSI BUL engine.

Does the turbo spool when the engine is sitting idling away and you rev the engine to above 3k or does the engine need load before the turbo is kicked in? The reason I ask is I only hear turbo spool when driving the car. My friend has a Saab 1.9 twin turbo and you can hear the small turbo spool when its sitting on the drive way revving the engine.

If not can you make it with the VCDS and the engine running? I hear what sounds like an air leak at 2k rev, not as loud as the 2.5k + turbo spool but I can't get the turbo to kick in so I can check for leaks.

Many thanks

It should boost when revved. An air leak sound is a sign of a boost leak. Check for splits in hoses (tell tale oil mist in area), and also check for the same at the intercooler. Small splits can be hard to find.
