Last year I purchased a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro w/ 3.0 and a 6speed transmission. I love the car. (Despite the laundry list of errors I have had with it.)
The initial concern came from the Oil Pressure Warning light. Which is nearly always on. Oil Pressure has been verified with an external pressure gauge. The sensor has been replaced but the error remains. And that is the least of all concerns. Though I would love it if anyone knew a fix for this situation that did not involve a brand new oil pump.
The next issue comes in the form of an occasional but continuous random misfire. This happens on all cylinders and is thought to be related to an "open circuit" error on two O2 sensors.
The current ails are caused by an ignition problem. Specifically, I had an issue while trying to crank up the car. The in dash console advised me to depress the clutch pedal, even though the clutch pedal was depressed. Having previously owed a VW Jetta that developed a similar problem I immediately went to work locating the Clutch pedal position switch under the steering column and in an effort to get the car home, made use of a bit of wire to bypass the switch. Upon returning to the car to attempt to leave again the car once again refused to start. I left it alone. the next day I attempted to swap this switch for the switch which is related to the Cruise control. At this point the in dash console changed. Currently, Even after both switches have been replaced, the ignition does not start the car. The indash console does not come on. Though the check engine and battery and several other lights do come on. The Radio will not power on. And the Key has little effect on the rest of the car. It will unlock the doors but will not open the trunk nor lock the doors.
Does anyone have any idea what could cause such a wide array of electrical problems?
