Managed to change catalytic converters on my 3L Quattro, as its a manual gearbox it was possible to change without messing with subframe, something I wasn't too keen on doing. Might help someone in they plan to do it in the future if they know it can be done just on a set of ramps.

There is a heatshield on the driveshaft that needs to come off though, a bit fiddly to get top bolt out but not too hard to do. The manifold nuts came off pretty easy, the clamp at the other end was so corroded I ended up grinding it off.

A big help was having an axle stand under there to support the loose end as you are fixing the manifold side, saves bending the flex too much.

Happy to have her back up and sounding like a normal car, one flex pipe was split too.

The bonnet wouldn't open after I finished my test drive. I had been away for 5 weeks at work and think lack of movement and cold weather made everything tighten up. I ended up taking the grille off to remove the three nuts attaching the lever to the bonnet. Cleaned and greased everything up again and it is opening now.

Next job is to fit a new beefier rear sway bay and new drop links, hopefully get that taken care of this afternoon.
