My car just underwent a major service at the local Audi dealership. When i went to pick up the car they told me that there was an oil leak and that this would require further investigation. I asked where the leak was coming from but all they would say is that it was from the engine somewhere and that the engine would require to be taken to bits to determine the cause. Cost for this would be £400 - £500 excluding any repair that may be required.

A bit confused with this as there are no signs of oil on my driveway at all and prior to the service the car wasn't burning an excessive amount of oil. No smoke coming out of the back either. Has anybody come accross this before?

I had an oil leak that only showed when parked on a hill......under tray caught it and deposited on the road.
A search about the engine with a torch and mirror on a stick gadget revealed engine covered with oil at the back.
To investigate start at the top...oil flows down.
Mine turned out to be the rocker cover gasket. Local independent charged £40 to diagnose and I have lost the invoice so can't say how much they charged to do the work as they did other stuff at the same time.

It's not difficult to find an oil leak. Remove the under-tray and inspect the engine. If you see oil have the engine steam cleaned £5-10. The oil leak if it exists is going to be easy to spot and fix on a clean engine. Change your garage to a VAG Indie
