Hello all,
I have been having a problem with the drivers side door unable to unlock with the keyfob 26896
I have managed to purchase a used original audi control unit off ebay with the same part and serial number.
How do i reprogram it to unlock it with the keyfob? Will this reprogramming effect any of the other doors or any other electrics?
Cheers

Your problem most likely is the door lock and not the module.

Thanks for the quick reply Dan, The VCD showed it as 'Locking unit for central locking' with the part number as the module. The problem is the keyfob manages to unlock all doors except the drivers door for which i then have to use the actual key.

Definitely a door lock.

If it was a control module you'd have no diagnostic communication

Definitely a door lock.
Damn i have already purchased the module, does that mean that the VCD diagnosed it incorrectly?

Nope, you misunderstood the fault.
Do you have keyless entry? I can have a look at the part number when I get home.

Thanks Chris, The keyfob still works for all the other doors but have to use the actual key to unlock the drivers door, once tried just the key and the alram went off so have to first unlock it using the fob and then use the key. So could you tell me what actually needs changing?

Trade Parts Specialists (http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/)

I would check for a broken/frayed wire in the loom between drivers door and A pillar.

I my links provided earlier you will see a post from me that explains what the lock in doing.
You can check the wiring from the module to the lock, this in all in the door and not in the A pillar (if that was broken you would have a different fault or a unresponsive module).
You can fit a second hand unit off Ebay for less than a new one.

Thanks a bunch Dan and Chris, helpful as always.
Just found out from TPS it cost £115.74 + VAT so will be buying it from ther. Ebay has a used one for £60 but i might as well get a brand new part instead.
