View Full Version : SE Driver Seat not comfortable

Still struggling to get a comfy driving position - '13 plate SE.
I used to drive my old Merc at the lowest seat setting, but doing so in the A6 seems to lower the back of the seat base, but the front stays quite high, which leads to an uncomfortable driving position, with the seat angled quite sharply backwards.
How high have others got their seats? - I need to get to 11 or 12 clicks up from the lowest setting for the seat base to level out and feel comfy. Is this unusual?? Seems high to me.
Still amazed a £30k + A6 doesn't have lumber adjustment (SE seats), and really struggling to get comfy.
I'm using the centre console trim as a guide (where the silver bit meets the transmission tunnel), and my seat base is about level or just below this (will try and add a pic tomorrow).
I'm getting obsessed with this now, and need to work out if it's just me or if there is a problem with the seat. Never been so uncomfortable in any car before, which just doesn't seem right for such a special car as the A6.
Any comparisons most welcome. I'm 5'9" so average height :-(

The seats are one of the reasons why I got the s line.

ive had both s-line and se c7 courtesy cars and found the s-line seats to be far more comfortable/supportive.

I am 6'0" and find the seat in my SE fine. This guide might help you get the east in the right position How to Adjust Seating to the Proper Position While Driving (http://www.wikihow.com/Adjust-Seating-to-the-Proper-Position-While-Driving). I don't think the height adjuster tilts the seat my view is that lowering the seat moves it backwards but does not alter the slope of the squab

Chris, yup, and my Merc had sport seats, which I had for 10 yrs, so it might just be I need to adjust. However, as upgrading to an S-Line isn't an option at moment, I'm still really interested in how high SE owners have their seats - 11 or 12 'clicks' from the bottom seems high to me, want to know if that is indeed to case, or that standard

johnsimcox - that is useful, and the kind of thing I need to know. at the lowest setting the front of my seat squab is much higher than the back, meaning the small of your back is rammed into the apex - and with no lumber adjustment, it is pretty uncomfortable. I'm starting to wonder if there is a fault with the seat. As I say, all the cars I've ever had (and I've had some pretty crummy ones) none have been as uncomfortable as the A6. Do you mind me asking how low off the floor you've got your seat set?

I have it a few clicks off the lowest setting. Without wanting to sound like a freak of nature most of my height is in my back so I tend to need the seat lower than might be more normal and likewise closer to the pedals (as my legs are shorter). On my C5 (Sport) and C6 (SE) I used to have the seats on the lowest setting but find that too low on the C7. The C5 had sports seats and lumber support and I have to say I have not missed on either the C6 or C7
