A4 B8 Headlamp Range fault Code 00496

I wonder if anyone can tell me something useful about this fault code which has popped up out of the blue after the car
was standing for a week unused?
It is on the 2008 S line Saloon of course.

Thanks Bruce, that thread mentions the front level sensor being in the nearside inner wing, but perhaps it is on the other side on an Audi A4?

The last thing I did to this car before the warning light appeared was to reattach the offside fog lamp plug which had become loose. I did drive the car once after that without the warning appearing however. At least I know what to investigate now.
