Hi all,Not sure if anyone could offer some advice before I head back to the garage on Monday? My 08 a6 avant 2.0 TDi 6ad manual has just had a repair to the gearbox (1st & 2nd syncros were shot). I picked the car up on weds and as soon as ignition was turned on the 'beep went off' to tell me that it was in reverse. Being in a hurry and desperate to get the car back to my wife, this didn't register until the next morning. It currently beeps when ignition on, turns on the reversing lights & parking sensors (whether car is in reverse, neutral or forward gears). I took it straight back to the garage and low and behold as soon as I was there it behaved as it should with no issues. Garage had it all day Fri, all checked and working fine. Picked it up again and after an hour run around this morning, it has started doing it again. I wondered if anyone could shed sny light before I go into battle on Monday as I'm sure, the car will probably behave itself again. Many thanks in advance - Nige

reverse switch?

Thank you - it was the first thing they said they'd checked as correct.

hopefully it'll start playing up again (although not really) when it goes back in.

It could be a sticking reverse switch that's only intermittently sticking.

Or it could be a bad rebuild and the arm inside the gearbox that swings across to push the switch in to make the connection could be sticking.

KrashBandiKoot - that's great, thank you. I can only be hopeful its a sticky switch & don't have to have the box out again.
