VW MK IV gear box issues

I own a 2003 golf IV and have recently had gear box issues. an attempted rebuild has born no fruit.
Just wondering is there an alternate automatic trany that will work on this model now that the FDH trany is proving particularly hard to find and seems to be a problematic trany?
my engine code is BFQ

FDH is the correct unit for your car but from what I can see it MAY be possible to use the earlier ESJ as well as the ESE, ESB and ERQ but the last two may require some adaptation work with the speedometer sender and/or wiring.
