Well put the old girl in for her MOT last week at 157,000 and passed with flying colors again well happy. But why is there always a BUT? lol. been having this funny little noise coming I thought from the front O/s engine bay I thought something to do with the power steering pump, put it in the garage last November, they said all was Ok not to worry about it, did over a 1000 miles in a few days returning its usual 32MPG, bummer, they are thirsty little cars , any way in the last few weeks started getting a noise coming from the fuel tank area on start up and seems to be getting worse, so changed the fuel filter last night , but the one that came off was genuine Audi and was not dirty at all, fitted said new filter, and noise still there, any ideas is it fuel pump really, fuel pump, the car had a new crank speed sensor last year, fresh oil filters ect runs good apart from this noise , hate running a car thats not right, so can anyone please point me in the right direction, and should I stop driving the car to avoid potential damage , any help would be very welcome .

TonyMC asked a similar thing on another thread. To save repeating myself my post on this is here:

Sounds like a noisy fuel pump. The noise by the O/S wing will be the charcoal evaporation control. It vents tank vapours into engine, and is cycled by the ECU so doesnt run all the time.

Thank you very much for the quick reply, just as I thought looking like a fuel pump problem, looks like I will have to get it looked at. Cheers again.
