improving sound system

Hi

I have the standard Symphony II sound system with the standard speaker.

I would like to know if it is worth changing the speakers all round the car to improve the sound or they are as good as they come?

If you don't have a sub-woofer fitted in your boot, get one. The difference is amazing.

I have a big box at the back of the car in the wing compartment which I think it is(?)

Where should it be?

Yup, that's probably the one. I've not heard the Symphony II, my older A6 has the "Concert" system, which is pretty superb.

to be honest I swapped the lot,
Nakamichi cd 400 head unit
Alpine type s front component speakers
Kenwood in the rear doors
Alpine amp and 2x 12inch subs in the boot.

Sounds like a lot but had built up this system in my previous 2 cars, had all the stuff lying in the garage so thought what the heck. Subs are only in as a temp solution till I sort out a custom enclosure to regain boot space. BUT the difference is amazing...... don't be fooled into thinking I go around with the windows down and the tunes blasting, I don't. I just enjoy being able to listen to any kind of music I fancy and have bass and full clarity.

The factory sub is ok but is a bit weedy (but much better than nothing at all)

Neg aspects of my system.
Head unit only has an option for green or amber, I want red.
head unit has a sticky out volume knob, security cover won't come down with face on.
subs take up a bit of my huge boot.

PLUS side
Head unit is very understated and sounds superb
speakers were the easiest to fit
overall sound quality is excellent.


I enjoy fitting and fiddling with cars so banging all this in was fun.

even if you was to improve the sound deaddening in the doors using dynamat or "skins" it would improve the sound quality:D
