Hi folks and was wondering if I could get a bit of help.

My blower motor has packed up completely :(

Now, I've replaced the heater control head unit because it was completely screwed and not operating any of the vents and I've bought a new blower motor as it seems the current one is locked up.

Now from I've read this issue is often down to the resistor being burnt out but I'm getting conflicting information about this issue. I have read that the blower should work regardless if it's turned on full, (it doesn't, having tested the new motor on a battery that works fine and having plugged it into the car without fitting it nothing happens), or because the resistor is dead it'll send no power to the motor at all. So I have two or three possible causes :-

1) The resistor is completely dead and not sending any power to the motor.
2) I have a blown fuse
3) I have no live feed either to the head unit or from the head unit to the motor itself.

Looking for a wiring diagram for my car is like looking for rocking horse dropping, virtually impossible to find!

So my questions are :

Does anyone know which fuse in the main box sends the power to the heater control unit?
Is there an in line fuse between the heater control and the resistor itself?
Are there any hidden fuses for this circuit outside of the main fuse box?
Is there any way of testing the heater control unit to make sure it's sending power to the resistor and blower motor without putting it into another car which I know is fully working?

It's annoying not having the blower motor working as in all this damp and cold weather the car keeps steaming up unless I'm doing 60 mph and then all I have is a small slot on the windscreen to see through. It seems a shame not to use the car even at this time of the year due to the streaming up issue.

Also I have a slight leak on the passenger side which appears to be filling up with water, is there anyway of sealing this?

Next question is, rear rear blower motor, (which works a treat), should it put out hot air when it's turned on? Mine only blows out cold air.

And finally, does anyone know of somewhere decent where I could have the rear screen replaced? After years of sunlight and the roof going up and down it's misted up pretty badly and you only get a vague idea of what's behind you through the rear screen. I'm in the East Yorkshire area but would be willing to travel within reason

Thanks folks :)

Well I sorted out he blower motor issue today.

The old heater control unit was dead on the electrical side of things, the old blower motor was completely seized and had blown the resistor as well as the 30 amp fuse.

With everything replaced all is back working fine and now I have a very warm car :)

All I've got to do is put the passenger side back together and put the pocket back in which is a job for tomorrow as the back panel is being a bit of a pain in the **** going back into place. Once that is is it's a case of lining up the pocket so it's closed and putting in the hinge bolts back in and the jobs done!

It's a shame nobody knows if the rear blower should blow out hot air or not. Still no matter, I'll sort it eventually.

Have you tried the specialist screen rejuvenation creams? BMW do one which is highly rated, I have a 2 part cleaner and food that works well, it was £50 for 2 tiny pots. The BMW stuff is about £12

The rear blower only blows the air from the cabin around, not heated , just recirculates
