View Full Version : Faulty (need to replace?) windscreen wiper linkage

I have had some problems with the wipers on my 07 A6. They don't return to the normal position and only wipe part of the screen. Also, they sometimes go too far and wiper slightly beyond the glass!

My old boss popped into work today and he's fairly good with his car knowledge. He had a look and said he thinks it's the wiper linkage (the arm join is farily movable!).

Is this a DIY job or something that I'd need a garage to do? Also, as it's non engine related would I be best buying a non Audi part to save some money?

Has anyone had your wipers off for example a windscreen change?

Any chance they put them back wrongly? Apparently easily done and can be remedied with a £2 wiper puller and experimentation by replacing on the spline (?) a notch at a time away from the overwipe area.

Alternative is that your arms have been bent, but unlikely as they are pretty strong.

Not read of any issues with the linkage before on this forum

Don't remember seeing

Nope I don't think so. I've had the car 6 months and they were fine at first but been like this for a few months

It's fairly easy to change.
I would get a second hand one personally.
