Hey up.
2.5tdi
While driving, hard, I get a flashing coil light. Pointing towards engine management. Flick ignition off and back on again and all is well. Checked the car over and the only thing I've found its that the oil is just over the maximum mark... All else seems sound enough. Got me wondering what triggers this response and what can be upsetting the management.

Also on a side note am I correct in thinking that the glow plugs are just for starting?

Cheers

There are a number of things that could cause the coil light to flash and you'd need to get the trouble codes read to get an idea of what the problem is.

The glow plugs are used for starting but remain on after a cold start until the coolant temp gets up to about 20'C. It wont be the glow plugs that's causing the light to flash while your driving though.

Bizarrely its stopped doing it no matter how i drive it!

Related to coil plugs perhaps....she doesn't like to start from cold (takes a fair few cranks) and produces a lot of smoke from start up for a second.

Also a tip for anyone who has this car. The Mr muscle over cleaner trick really does clean up the turbo actuation
