Passat b5 steering wheel is moving slightly

Hi there,


My vw passat b5 , year 2000 while I am driving on motorway steering wheel is moving slightly from right to left side (opposite as well).


what could be a problem ? is it expensive thing ?

Sounds like you might just need your wheels balanced, so it shouldn't be an expensive fix. Your local tyre shop should be able to help.

I remember when I was in garage two months ago a guy told me that I would need to replace 'Tie rods' as they become 'soft', perhaps that might be a problem ?

I suppose that's another possibility but if you want a definitive diagnosis you'd have to take the car back to the garage and ask them to check it.
