Hi I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows anything about it. I was out and about today and all was fine. I went into the supermarket and when I came back out I was driving home and the blowers wouldn't work. I tried them on every setting 1-12 but nothing. I have an Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line (143bhp) 09 plate.
Thanks in in advance for any help.
Gary.

Could be the blower fuse? Right hand front fuse box. Fuses are listed on the fuse box cover.

Hi, Experienced this recently on my sisters B8 (2008) A4. Check the fuse first...otherwise my understanding is the blower motor or regulator could have failed. If I remember correctly there are two parts: a regulator and the motor. Audi won't sell you them individually, and together they were in the region of £300-400. You'll most likely need to get a fault code scan and garage diagnosis to confirm. Fingers crossed its just the fuse...!

But fuses usualy blow for a reason (other than just being faulty fuses I mean)

Hi and thanks for your replies. i went out to check the fuse the other day and thought il just check first and they were working ok so obviously not the fuse. Since then its temperemental. sometimes they work and sometimes it takes ten minutes for them to start blowing but they always start. they fan speeds set at 11 and although they dont work sometimes to start with the car is still heating up and some air is coming through then ten minutes later the blowers kick in so you can physically hear them although for the second highest setting i think they should be stronger. So motor?regulator on the way out maybe?

could be a sensor fault or a faulty fan motor, mine went in my Touareg and it was the fan motor, bought a second hand recon from a breakers for much less ,best thing is to scan it and see what comes up, any good local garage should be able to do it or look on here if anyone has a VCDS cable

I think the fans are weak too. The front demist is poor compared to my mini, which can clear its (albeit smaller) screen in a few seconds. I used this feature this morning in the A5 and it really was a half hearted effort, taking many minutes to clear even with AC on. Pants.

Agreed, I've just filled out my "ipsos loyalty survey" for a new A4 B8, and one of the "faults" I listed was the **** poor performance of the front demist. When selected it doesn't even automatically go to max (I think it goes to 11 of 12 or somesuch), but whatever, it's much less effective than the A6 I had before, and that wasn't great. Heated windscreens FTW as far as I'm concerned, but I couldn't get one. Nor a heated steering wheel.

Heated windscreens are patented by Ford - my dad has one in his Discovery (when ford was manufacturer), whilst they are good for defrosting etc, they are a nightmare when driving at night. Everything is blurred!!

Hi my problem seems to be getting worse and happening more often now. Blowers wont come on immediately but will after 10 mins or so. They are still heating up because its hot air thats instantly coming out. Weird. Anyway im going to get someone to put it through a fault code scan and see what that reveals. Just had our first baby last week and dont feel comfortable taking her out not knowing what they will be doing one minute to the next. Thanks for everyones replies much obliged.
