Hey people, happy new year =)

I'm wanting to retrofit fog lights to my passat. I wondered if anybody could direct me as to what I would need to do to have them function off the headlight switch as per cars that came with them from factory?

I also have a very sloppy gear shift (5 speed manual awx 130) if I remove the gaiter and push the lever backwards and forwards I have around 1/2" of movement in both directions from the black plastic cover with the two bolts in. The adjustment bolt it tight so it's moving the rod on the gearbox. Can anyone direct me to a bushing kit as vw want £66 for an entire new rod and another £150 for a complete shift tower saying parts aren't available separately and I have to buy the whole thing. :/. I need this fixing as struggling to get into first on occasion.

Finally, how difficult is it to switch to a 6 speed manual gearbox? Is it an absolute ballache or relatively achievable?

Kind regards
Mini

Gearbox will require money time and work. Probably a good idea to change the clutch too, The inner CV joints etc are different. I think the car is prewired for the fogs you'd need the switch for front fogs and new lights. You should be able to get the linkage repair kit from TPS or GSF etc or a breaker

No wiring makes it a bit more challenging but it's still something you could do.

TPS = Trade Parts Specialists (http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/)

GSF = Car Parts – Fast Delivery of Discount Car Parts at GSF Car Parts (www.gsfcarparts.com)

I looked into a six speed swap on my 5 speed awx a while back, a good friend who was working in VW at the time looked into it as well however the mounts are in a different place the bell housing is slightly different drive shaft flanges are different. In the end I decided not to go for it, if you do do it let us know how you get on.
