I found it somewhere in VCDS but didn't try it as I like the feature. Will have a look later and see if I can find it

I have an a8 and I just disable mine from the dash switch.
It's a crazy idea, nearly as bad as those front driving lamps on a lot of cars that come on depending on the direction of steering.. They were on my d3 a8 but thankfully not on my d4..

Hi all, just wanted to give you an update, after much research ive finally successfully swithed the auto start stop on my 2011 Audi A7, below is how i did it using a method from a Q5 owners forum....i couldn't be happier as now when i press the button on the dashboard it stays off and doesn't default back to being on when i get in the car the next time. Personally i think *** is a joke with an s tronic gearbox, its left me in a few really tricky situations on roundabouts and almost caused me to crash once.
This is how i did it.......
- Module 09-Cent. Elec.
- Enter Security Code (shown up by default) (mine was 20113)
- Adaptation, Type Channel 34 and hit Read button, it should show the factory default number.
- The value of mine was 20
- Change this value to 64
- Test and then save
Happy days

I have few questions regarding this mod:
- did you add 64 to the original value or did you change to 64? Because the instructions are that you have to add 64 to original value, which would activate memory function for start/stop and reverse the light function (active only when start/stop is enabled)
- does it work ok for you? And does it always remember the last selected position (enabled or disabled) or did it sometimes defaulted back in possition start/stop enabled
- which 09-CE unit does your car have
Please refer to this topic's first post, Trick #25:
A6 C7 VCDS Tricks (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/132245-A6-C7-VCDS-Tricks?)
Because the above post's settings seems incorrect to me.
This trick was confirmed a lot on the A7 models, some strange behaviour was reported, but mostly this trick working without any problem. Please refer to this topic: To "save the last selected option", and the "invert the switch option" are two different selections. If you wish the car to remember your last setting after an ignition off/on session, then you need to select the "remember the last setting" option.

Thx. Yes the trick 25 should be the correct procedure and save the last selected option would be the best (so adding 32 to original 20). But in A6 this does not work always. It can remember the last state, but it is quite random. For example, once it will remember even if the car will be left for more than a day, next time it will turn on even if the car was left for only a few minutes (and the S/S system was turned off when the car was turned off).
Do you have any suggestions regarding this?

I use the memory setting, and it's working fine for me.
About the solution? Somebody posted your issue into the A6 tips&tricks topic just some days ago, and I replied to this, that I felt this feeling when I selected the "inverse the start/stop button" option only. For me the solution was to remove the reverting, and to set the "remember start&stop settings" only. After this change, my problem disappeared and now everything is working fine.
By this, it's possible that some setups tolerates only one of these options, or even tolerates these options, if you select these for the very same time. So, I can suggest to you to try the other selection OR try both of them for the same time. It may solve your problem, at least in my case, it did. Good luck :Blush2:

I changed the value to 64, some say you add 32 to the original value if you want the swith to iluminate the same but the stay off when you start the car the next time, but that didnt work for me so i messed around a bit and with trail and error got it to work with an actual value of 64 stored, its been six months and never once has it switch back on
