Hi I have a 2005 Audi A6 FSI 3.2 Quattro- can I ask if you own a similar car does your boot lid spring open an inch or so or does it open fully 90 degrees when operated using the remote fib or in car switch - curious thanks.. Mine opens up about an inch ..!

My previous 2010 A6 had remote opening boot lid....gas struts each side to lift the lid, before that I had an A4 that had remote unlock bootlid.....no gas struts so lid just sprung out of lock assembly.

Ok thanks for that - I'll have a look at the struts .. I guess mine is the cheap version [emoji39]

Maybe not..........I bought my A6 as a 1yr old and the bootlid wouldn't lift right up the first time it was operated. Once it had been lifted up it would work and lift correctly thereafter. Kind of made the feature pointless if it had to be manually opened each day before it would work. Audi dealer fitted 2 new struts under warranty but it still didn't improve. I tried everything to resolve it, checked and made sure hinges were free and lubricated, nothing sticking in lock area or seal etc, I gave up on it in the end. :(

The hinges are different depending if you have full opening or just the boot lid release (pops up about an inch). The fully opening hinge has an extra spring to pull the lid open

you need to replace the following items.
4F5827665A x 2 (springs)
8E5827552K x2 (Struts - different gas pressure to std struts)
8E5 827 302 E Right hinge
8E5 827 301 E Left hinge
Then you need to have the hinges painted also.
Your looking around the £400 mark for this to be retrofitted.
