Hi there, does anybody know how to change the diff oil in my A4 130 Quattro 52 Reg .
The mileage is 104000 now so I thought it would probably need changing & also would it be wise to do gearbox oil aswell .
Thanks, Andy. :1zhelp:

Hi, i have not changed my diff oil, but i have topped it up, you will need the car jacked up but level, you will need to remove the aluminium splash guard that is held on with 2 or 3 bolts, the filler plug is a large allen head type bolt, make sure you can crack this off first before you undo the drain plug, as you would not want to be in the situation of draining the oil and not being able to undo the filler plug.
basically warm up the diff by going for a few mile spin, jack up car nice and level, drain old oil, using a large syringe or squeezy bottle, refill oil until it starts to drip out of the filler hole, replace filler bolt and job done.
use either standard audi stuff ir Redline do a good range of diff and gearbox oils.
i got my local garage to do my gearbox oil as its easier on a ramp..........good luck.

Hi , thanks very much for the info. I was hoping it would be as simple as that, as long as I can undo the drain & filler plugs of course which might be a challenge !!
You say you have only topped up your diff oil. Does that mean you have a leak then ?
What mileage has yours done ?
Ive had no problems with mine at all so I thought I'd better give the diff a nice oil change to keep everything in good nick, then it should be good for another 100000 ,
Thanks again. Andy

Hi, i have had my 1.8T quattro s-line 190 for 5 years and bought on 50K miles. now on 105K.
There has been a very slight weep from the passenger side rear drive shaft for quite a while now, its just the seal but i have not got round to doing it yet, it wont leak unless you are moving as the level of oil Is lower than the driveshaft outlet.
One thing to note with quattros is the recommendation to try to keep the rolling circumforence the same as possible front to back and obviously left to right by having matching tyres, there is no need to buy 4 tyres at a time as long as you keep the same brand and model of tyre. My fronts wear out a lot quicker than the rears, so i swap over at half distance then replace the worn out ones when needed.
