Hi Guys,
I've just got a 2010 Passat 1.6 Tdi bluemotion.
Is it worth using Shell V-power? Always used it in my A3 2.0 Tfsi and it made a noticeable difference.
Thanks in advance.

I used the petrol version in my Rover 45 V6 and felt the difference. I my VW 2.0 TDi 140 there didn't appear to be any felt difference in power and fuel consumption. I don't know why, other than I think the EMU in the Rover was able to adjust to higher octane to get the power. I use Millers Powermax in my VW with the benefit of slightly better mpg (max I have had was 72.8 mpg) It turns out over 40 mpg around town even in winter. Many will argue over both additives such as Millers and V Power being a waste of money and to some extent maybe they are, but both are supposed to keep the engine clean. Horses for courses I suppose. I use Millers at double strength, ie 2mls/ltr

Yes, following an episode when Asda in Charlton, and Sainsburys in Crayford (both SE London) dropped to 91RON two years ago (they just removed the 95RON sickers from their pumps) and I didn't notice until the spring this year -- I found my 2.0L tFSI running occasionally lumpy. The odd misfire always on Cyl4. Apparently using this premium when I've got a remap for 98RON anyway causes carbon build up. The recommended fix being either an additive which may, or may not be snake oil, or running on Shell V-Power 100RON which has a cleaner in it that actually works according to the Golf MkIV/V kewl doods.
So tried it for about 900L and it really does work! Engine got better and better until no misfires. And I could go back to real pump indicated 95RON
Except that Asda Gravesend has now done it -- removed their 95RON stickers. Noticed after I'd filled up (down to £1.10.7/L there) Waited around customer service desk to find out what they were selling, but supervisor there didn't know. Got given their head office Freephone number 0800 952 0101 and asked there, twice. No one knew there either. What are the up-to-date regs on this? I though it was law that the RON had to be displayed? Otherwise how do you know what you're buying? It's not on the pump-printed receipt

my s4 gets v power, nothing else, except once when i had to stick 20 quids of el cheapo in so i could get to my nearest v power seller, and that made the engine pink, badly, so i had to drive very carefully.

Tesco labels their pumps by RON -- 95 and 100 for Momentum brand. But there's no cleaner in Momentum
