Hi Guys,
The TMC traffic info on my current car is a waste of time, so I use a TomTom satnav with HD live traffic which I find really good, both for accuracy and re-route. I'm expecting delivery of my new car next month which will come with the advanced Tech Pack, which I understand uses Google traffic info. Has anyone compared the performance of Google and TomTom traffic?
On a related note, and apologies if it's already been discussed elsewhere, can I use my personal iPhone as the data source for Audi Connect whilst using my works Blackberry as a hands-free phone - or do I need to buy an in-dash SIM?
Thanks.

You can only use your phones data connection if it supports rsap, which an iPhone does not. Most phones don't but blackberries do, so you could use that. Not sure if you could also use the iPhone for phone calls as well. If you get a dash sim you can choose whether to use that for calls or a separate phone. This works well.
I can not compare google traffic data to Tom Tom, but it is much better than tmc. Google uses data from phones in the area and how fast they are moving, so in theory this should be the most up to date live info.

The audi system is good but doesn't have the camera alerts that TomTom does. You can't use the iPhone for data, you will need a data sim. I use the sim for data and my iPhone for calls. Integrates very easily and can also use it for music. I buy 6gb ee sims for about £15 which last 3 months-I use a lot of data as my kids watch movies etc when in the car-other guys use much less. At the moment ee are giving away a data sim which lasts for 2 months and has 200Gb for free-that is not a mistake-200GB! Although don't know how you could use that much.
Even though my car is just a few months old, the sat nav has already taken me down dead end streets!
Advanced tech pack is great and has now spoiled other cars for me especially on long motorway journeys. I'm sure you will like it.
Cheers, Scott

Thanks for the info - looks like I'll be ordering a SIM from EE before the offer runs out. Interesting to see how the new info graphics display works in conjunction with Google Maps.

Just found that you can buy the £20 6Gb 4G SIM on eBay for £15.99
EE 4G Mobile Broadband PAYG Combi SIM Card. Preloaded With 6GB Data | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EE-4G-Mobile-Broadband-PAYG-Combi-SIM-Card-Preloaded-With-6GB-Data-/321180468637)
Also ordered the freebie 2-month version that I will use until it expires and then replace with the preloaded SIM.
