is it normal for the allroad pump to kick in at random times when driving? no flashing on the height and it does not go lower while left parked up. but ill sit at some traffic lights and the compressor will kick in for a few seconds

Perfectly mormal and if parked up overnight on Level 1 or 2 and does not loose air (ie Level 1 or 2 Green lights flashing when you start the engine in the morning). Self-levelling suspension is active all the time - even on cornering - and attempts to keep car level at all times. So depending on road/driving conditions, a little air is released/injected where and when needed. Also, there is a tank of compresed air in the boot below where the jack is stored. The compressor keeps this "reservoir" full and the system will use this first when the engine is started - for ride comfort ie. Driver nor passengers disturbed by the compressor running.
Also, when car is parked, the system will let out air as and where needed to keep the car level. So when driver steps out of the car, invariably the system lets out air that side because the weight has reduced.
In the absence of any dash warning lights, the key thing to keep an eye on is no air loss when parked overnight at Level 1 or 2. If this is the case your self-levelling suspension is working to spec.

Forgot to add. The car MUST be placed in jack mode before jacking up the car. To do this, turn on ignition and hold in at the same time the UP & DOWN suspension buttons for approx 5 secs - the yellow suspension light will appear solid on the dash. The suspension controller will no longer resond to any changes in levels of the 4 corners - which is what you want when you have a wheel offfor are under the car (remember self-levelling suspension is ACTIVE all the tine UNLESS it is in jack mode. When car is off jack mode, hold buttons in again for approx 5 secs untill yellow suspension light disappears from the dash.
