Hi everyone
My car broke down last night
Its been perfectly fine, no troubles. Yesterday went to the shop, when got back I started the engine and it turned itself off and didn't start since
Called green flag, and after some checks man said that must be either fuel filter or fuel pump. there was no fuel coming when I tried to start it, but when he sprayed something in the throttle body, than car started fine for a second.
My question is is there anyone near me (Newark) who could advise me where to find fuel pump and what sort of pump is it. I have 2002 a4 b6 2.0 petrol engine ALT
thanks

Hello Greg, welcome to the forum.
Before replacing the fuel pump you want to check that there is power being supplied to the pump. It could be something as simple as a blown fuse or a defective pump control relay.
Did the green flag guy check that and tell you it was definitely the pump that was faulty?
Jim.

Hi Jim, thx for the reply,
Apprently he check the relay and said that is clicking as it should. relay no was 370. than he said that he couldn't hear the pump buzzing. Also I have checked the fuse no 28 and was fine. Also he couldnt find the pump itself. He checked under the back seat, but after unscrew top covers on both side he said that pump isnt there. So where is it? LOL also is there hight pressure pump like in FSi engine or just one in the tank ?
Thx

The fuel pump is in the boot behind the rear seat. A clicking relay doesn't necessary mean it's passing current, so I'd connect a volt meter across the pump connector and make sure it's supply is OK. Green/Yellow is the supply from the relay (via Fuse 28) and brown is earth.

The fuel pump on my 1.8T failed whilst on holiday in the Lake District a couple of years ago, no sign it was going to fail, engine just cut out and would not start, RAC called and confirmed faulty pump. Mine was under the back seat, no pattern pumps available so genuine Audi one. Had a nice bill of £300, rather miffed as I have a TPS account myself, and as a qualified aircraft fitter/ tester could have done this easily myself, but as we were on holiday with no tools had to go to the local garage........

thx, I found the pump. Where is the relay for the fuel pump? is it under the steering wheel or is somewhere else. I have found second hand pump for alt engine for 40 quid off ebay

I think on your 2002 petrol engine, the fuel pump relay is behind the dash on the driver's side. It's the relay to the far left.

I have managed to find fuel pump from passat b5, from the same engine. I have fitted it, but fuel amount is not right. However car is drivable again. I am wondering if I will be able just to swap a electric motor, so I can use original housing

Would it not be possible/easier to swap the tank sender units over rather than the electric motor?

its a fair point :)
If it will fit then probably yes, but audi pump has a hose about 10 inch long coming of the pump housing, so if there will be no chance to disassembly the pump, then i will just swap the sender, but rather left genuine housing and just change the motor itself. Or if someone will assure me that apart from sender it will suck :) all the fuel from the tank, than I will know for sure if that make sense LOL
P.S. is anyone swapped the motor itself before?

I have replaced the whole pump for the right one, but had a bit of trouble to fit it in, due to that pipe (red arrow). Finally i relised that is detachable and need to be unpluged first, then it goes back in.
What is this hose/pipe actually doing / needed for (one marked with red arrow) ?
