Hi guys,

Been using the forum for researching bits for my new purchase, a 2004 B6 Audi A4 1.9TDI 130 Sport.

It's my 5th car, and follows on from a FIAT Stilo, Lexus IS200, Mazda2 and most recently a Toyota Celica GT.

I've only had it a week so far, and I'm loving it! More economical than the Mazda, comfort on par with the Lexus, and in short bursts actually feels faster than the Celica due to the masses of torque!

Anyway, I'll start a thread when I get round to taking a few more pictures, but here's one I took when I picked it up for now...

Thanks Chris, paintwork and interior are near enough spotless apart from the drivers floor mat!

Thanks zollaf, what should I be looking out for in particular? I heard the 1.9 is pretty much bullet proof as long as it's serviced properly? And mine had the cambelt and waterpump changed 2K miles ago so that's the biggest cost out of the way.

they are indeed bullet proof, but do require being serviced properly. its good the timing belt has been done, thats a biggish job requiring the front to go into service position. main thing is to check the right oil is used, it has to be to vw spec 505.01 or higher. shine a torch down into the plenum chamber where the battery and servo sit. there should be no water in there, and if you flush it with a hose the water should drain quickly and easily. the alternator has a one way pulley on it. wit the engine stationary you can use a small screwdriver and you should be able to rotate the fan inside the alternator in the direction of normal rotation but not the other way.
they are the main things to check on a regular basis, other than that its just the normal servicing ad wear and tear items, like front suspension arms.
