hi all, about 2 months ago i replaced my drivers side bottom turbo pipe as it blew a hole in it.

i bought 1 from germany for £40.

the fitting was the same but it didn't have the narrower bore on the turbo side.

since fitting it, it 's got more of a growl and sounds a bit throatier as if my exhaust is blowing a bit ( it isn't )

it runs fine and is actually not as sluggish as it was.

is this because the pipe bore is the actual size of the pipe ?

hope you all understand this as it comes across as a little confusing unless you've seen both pipes.

Hi
Have you checked that your turbo vacuum activator rod is moving freely?
Mines a BRE engine and it started sounding loud and growly when the VGT got a bit coked up and was not moving freely.

Regards
Tony.

There is a TPI about this pipe but no reference number which is helpful, not, the revised design pipe 4F0 145 738 R is the solution but it is £165.

i bought 1 off ebay part number 4F0 145 738 . it fits like a glove. the original part i removed was just a rubber pipe with a jubilee clip on the intercooler end. on the turbo end was a seperate peice that fitted in the turbo with the clip, then into the turbo pipe, also with a jubilee clip.
the replacement part 4F0 145 738 R wasjust 1 peice.

4F0 145 738 is not a good number, there is 4F0 145 738 F which is the V6 right intercooler upper inlet and the hose in question which was 4F0 145 738 H which changed to 4F0 145 738 M, then 4F0 145 738 Q and is currently 4F0 145 738 R.
