You wont need any diagnostic equipment but stripping these pumps is quite complex. I have made paperweights from a couple. TBH a used pump for these is only the price of a bottle of good malt

yes, indeed, there are only so many seals you can replace without removing the pump. once one has gone its quite likely more will follow. you could always remove it, send it to diesel bob and get an overhaul. then replace it with a new timing belt and be good for another 20 years.

That's what I'm debating but as I work for a motor factor in Cornwall and have a good rapor with a few guys at bosch I thought I'd try my hand at it first the seals so far have been pretty cheap to tho lol.

Seals are a tenner or so it's skipping the 4-5 years Bosch training that messed up my attempts :)

OK Thanks Guys, I am going to attempt to replace the next seal down as it seems pretty straight forward with out removing it.
Fingers crossed.

oh, the other one the same as the top seal. thats easy enough to do, but the block you remove slides to control the fuelling. it needs to go back on in the exact same place to get the tickover right. too far one way it won't start and too far the other it will rev its nads off. use a scribe to put marks in a few places and get them lined up best you can.
