hi all,
we took our very loved vw passat 1.9 tdi to our local vw dealer last week for a full service and mot.
It passed but had an advisory on the automatic hill start brake that wasnt coming on.
I decided to let them fix it and got the car back with it working.
Anyway the next day after driving about 20 miles the clutch pedal started to struggle to pop back after changing gear then i started to struggle to change gear then the next morning the pedal stopped at the floor and a steering lock warning light came on.
I rang vw they say it wasnt them and all they fitted was an ecu.
i have had the car for 2 years with no problems.
any ideas.
thanks

what passat is it?

auto hill start - if there's something going on what does the engine control unit have to do with that?
or did they replace the abs control unit (not ECU)

clutch issue is probably a fluid leak..... i would have it towed to garage as the clutch operates of the same expansion tank as the brakes!

VW Customer “Care” in Milton Keynes is on: 0800 083 3920. Advise them and see what they say. They'll probably need copies of all your paperwork

The auto hill start is a function of the park brake ECU, nothing to do with the clutch though.

Clutch pedal will 'over center' when clutch is very worn. You can usually lift pedal with your toe. You probably need a new clutch.
