Hi all,
As title says both fobs not opening car. I opened car with key and put in ignition and still nothing. Steering column didn't click, turned to first position and no lights. So now the alarm is going. Lock the car with the key and the alarm keeps going for another 3 or 4 goes and then all quiet. It seems the car has lost its way immobiliser code wise?
Anyone got any ideas?
Thinking about buying vcds but unsure as there is anything I could do with it if the alarm is kicking in soon after getting in the car?
Am I doomed am i going to have to get the local Audi dealers to collect the car and charge me more than its worth.
Any ideas would be appreciated, I'm more than willing to try an work my way through this just stuck at the mo and need some help?
Thanks

How long have you had the car?
Which model/year is it?
Have you ever changed the keyfob batteries?
Have they been behaving any differently recently?
I change mine each year just to be safe as a pack of 8 (CR 2032's from memory) is a mere 99p from my local 99p store :)
I did have a fault where they key couldn't be removed from the ignition in 2013, cleared with VCDS never to return.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply. Had the car over 6 months now. Batteries are all good in remote. Got into car with key and ran vcds. Every module bar about 4 had a 0010 fault, cleared codes. Locked car with key. Fobs still not working, opened car with key again, put key in ignition, car still not communicating with key, alarm going off, back to where we started. Sounds major?

No, don't think serious just keys have lost sync with car.
A simple google search shows lots, this being one:

Have you searched t'interweb?

Yeah looked/scoured the net. Most roads seem to talk about fobs not working. Can't see how both fobs would go at once. The car isnt actually talking to reader inside steering column so cant get anything. I have tried syncing key as per a6 c6 " hold unlock button for 30 seconds with key in ignition" tried at position 0 and at 1 in the ignition. Its like the car has lost its end. Steering column/immobilizer module!! Scared!!

When you cleared the codes did scan again?
Also did you go into the individual modules to clear the codes if they reappeared?
If genuine VCDS can you paste on this thread the actual scan failures. I remember reading on a thread where it was the immobiliser sensor in the steering column.
PS: it helps in your initial post if you state what you've already tried, as stops peeps giving advice that isn't appropriate :)
