Hi guys,
I've a basic MMi motor 2.0TDi ( no Cruise Con or multi-display ) and just wondering if this can be added to my system as an after-fit ?
Also, the single disc player.....can it be swapped with a multi disc unit ( assuming I can locate one ! ) plug & play or is coding with VCDS needed ?
Thanks in advance.

CC can be done, not sure about the rest. Does need VCDS coding though

The MMI upgrade can be done but is very costly.

Thanks for the quick reply lads,
Dan, not an MMi upgrade per se; just the CC stalk and functionality and also the opposite stalk with toggle for fuel monitoring - the current system just shows remaining kms in tank.

I thought that you have to upgrade the MMI to do this unless you get away with an instrument cluster change only.

Possibly worthwhile just buying an aftermarket cruise control system fitted, yours will need a canbus interface as audi's don't have a traditional speed signal.
Aftermarket Cruise Control Kit from Bridgwater Electronics (http://www.bridgwater-electronics.co.uk/cruise-control-kits/c51)
AP900 is the one you want and I think they do the interface for £48 (but you can buy it cheaper elsewhere) I think £320 inc the canbus kit & VAT from them as a kit
A neighbour had one fitted when his job meant he's be doing a lot of M'way miles.
Natch you'll not have it linkd to your MMI, which will cost you a LOT more :(

I've retrofitted cruise control, instrument cluster stalk functionality and multifunction steering wheel. You will need VCDS. You may also need to change the steering wheel controler depending on the part number of the one you have fitted. Once you have all the bits it's about a 2 or3 our job.

For the MMI you cannot get rid of the single CD unit as that is the main MMI controller for your car, but you could add a CD-Changer, but you would need new glove box to hold the second unit. Your can find the CD-changer on ebay for around £100 search for MMI 2G CD-Changer, you should also be able to buy a glove box that holds 2 CD modules, I got one a few months back for £50. cruise & DIS can be retrofitted as stated above.

Thank you kindly folks, your educated input is much appreciated. Looking at above replies, I think i'll leave the CC / fuel display upgrade due to the cost attached. Its only a 05 motor and road tax in these parts is a ridiculous €710 per annum. Hopefully, in the next year or so, I can get to a 08 variant whereby the road tax will drop significantly. I will definitely look at upgrading the glovebox and adding the multidisc though. Ye're all legends, truly

Hi Gavin, how much did it run you, all in ? Excluding labour of course as I assume you did it yourself ?

I am pretty sure that cc is a cheap upgrade you can buy the kit from audi includes a new lower steering column cover and stalk. Then code with VCDS

Rough guess id say about €350. I took my time picking up all the bits off eBay. But I did multi function steering wheel too so that ment a new steering wheel.

Hey mate,
I have a 05 A6 myself and got CC retrofitted as well as for some bizarre reason it didn't have it despite having pretty much everything else. I used a fella just outside Portlaoise (George Dalton) who comes highly recommended for VW/Audi stuff.
Can't remember the exact cost but it was < €200 anyway if I remember right. Only 45 mins from Dublin on the M7 too. I've been to him a few times in the last few years with my last Passat and now A6 and he's a decent guy who knows his stuff.
As for the tax, it's a joke how much we have to cough up considering what our neighbours here are paying for the same cars - but look at it this way, I'm paying €422 every 3 months for mine (3.0 TDI Quattro). Like you I hope to change her for a 08+ next year if I can - or preferably the A8 equivalent :), but getting one with a decent spec is almost impossible from my experience
