SE vs. Match - what differences?

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of changing my Mk4 TDi for a Mk6 of Mk7 TSI version.

I'm not familiar with the differences between the Match and SE variants and wondered if anyone knew the main points which may steer me one way or the other.

Any takers?

The Mk7 Match has a diferent style alloy wheel 'Dover' pattern versus 'Toronto' on the SE model.
It also comes with Front fog lights, Mirror Pack, Parking sensors - front & rear.

A MK7 Match has additional goodies. Parking sensors, fog lights with cornering function, folding mirrors with puddle lights, 'Dover wheels' (They spoil the car imho) are all the main bits.. All for the same basic price. :approve:

The 'Match' designation is traditionally introduced mid-life (or earlier for the Mk 7) to replace the SE with more equipment for the same price, as noted above. As Mal says, the Dover wheels on the Mk 7 are real stinkers and look as though the car is on 15 inch rather than 16 inch wheels. The SE wheels of both this and the Mk 6 are excellent (reminiscent of traditional wire wheels, to someone old enough to have run an MG with wires!) and it’s a shame they're not an option. The 17 inch Singapore's are the way to go, as Mal's picture shows.

Thanks for the comments, you're steering me towards the Match. I went for the SE by default on Mk4's; first one I had came up at a very attractive price so I bought it. Second Mk4 I bought the same because I liked it and it was another good deal. Time for a change looking at your comments, probably a Mk6 unless the Lotto comes in!
