Hi Guys

Now I know this can be part of the regen for the DPF but i noticed from yesterday morning that the car does this every time I pull up and switch the engine off. I also notice the idle is around 800 when first starting then throughout the journey starts to creep to 1000 each time the car is in idle.

Anyone had similar experiences - its only done 1500 so i thought this maybe the process of the car "running itself in"

Cheers

Paul

My car (2.0tdi Ultra) seems to spend around half its time with this fan running. Even after a long motorway trip regen can still take place with the car sat on the drive sounding like a 737 idling. The Ultra seems to go through this process far more frequently than the old 177 tdi did. Something to do with the addition of SCR/Adblue perhaps?

Nothing to do with adblue as this is injected downstream of DPF, it just seems to be a characteristic of the ultra.

I parked mine up last night and there was a huge blast of heat from under the wheelarches as the fans kicked in - first time I have noticed it.

There was so much heat I got back in and checked the coolant temperature was normal, which it was, so I assume it was all normal, fans had stopped 5 minutes later.

I have an A7 3 litre Ultra with 1700 miles on it and have also noted that on a couple of ocassions when parking after only moderate runs to work that the fans are going full tilt and there is a great deal of heat and a burning smell coming from the engine bay. I checked the first time as well to make sure nothing was wrong. I take this is just part of a burn cycle for the DPF. Mine takes AdBlu as well. Not sure if it does it on a set schedule or just as and when required.

Mine was doing this a lot for the first few thousand miles, but no sign of it for the last few months.
