Hi guys.
I was just wondering how much differencea ramp makes. I know the average gain in BHP and torque etc but I wanna know if you people who have had their TDi remapped were really happy with the results.
Cheers

Had my PD100 done. Very very happy with the results, even though i'll need new tyres more often, lol. the ESP light might as well be constantly on when pushing hard, though it's much more fun with it off....
It's transformed my car, better than i was expecting to achieve.
Torque is phenominal (sp?)

So...if someone had remapped your car without telling you, and then you got in and drove it hard...you definatly would notice it being much quicker?

you'd notice without having to drive it hard.... The extra torque is there all the way through the rev range. If you drove it hard, the ESP light would be constantly on.

So its worth the £400 odd for a custom remap?

I paid £250 as a special offer from chip and spin, with before and after runs on the rolling road. His map alone should be £275.
Only you can decide whether it's worth it or not, depending on your income and financial status. I got better performance than i expected. and i'd happily pay £250 to get another car done @ chipped uk.
Why not get in touch with chip and spin, and see if he has a dealer near you. I think the normal price is £275 (without rollers).

I had my map done with "bora(ing) nick" from "chip and spin".
What a tranformation to your car it makes. At £250 to, a bargain.
Definatly worth the money, even if its £250 or £500.

Alot of people have recomended chip and spin...Will ask if they can come to Brighton or halfway or something!
For those of you who have kindly replied, did you have a customer remap or generic?
My next question is...do you really think a custom remap is worth the extra dosh?

Im not sure what my map was, but he did ask about my modifications before loading the map, so i think mine was more custom than generic.

a custom map is only good if you have had mods done to the car, if its standard then just a normal remap will be fine.

have not got exact numbers but the guy at chipped uk said around 195bhp 400 Nm torque. Have not done any 0-60 tests yet but imagine be low-mid 7s. not bad for a diesel. Does a lot of cars really, had a good one with a fabia RS, they can shift, but he did fail tho!!!

uhh yes mate, would stand no chance they are only 100bhp, pretty lame, the VTS are quite nippy as so light but should still beat them. have done pretty well against a type-r, obviosuly it won but hung on to it pretty well

I think its well worth it I had mine done yesterday on my golf4 115bhp from SP TUNING in Leicester. He came all the way down to Luton took about one hour and wow what a difference it made:aargh4: well worth getting it done only cost me £189.:biglaugh:

If you going to get a golf i would go for the 115 bhp maybe a 2001 onwards would be great as some ecu's on the 2000 models cant be done easily.

whats the point in getting the 115 when you can get the 130 or 150 instead

Cheaper insurance

only a few groups tho, and besides they can only be remapped to about 135, compared to the 150 which is 195ish, big difference in performance. I personally would rather pay the extra insurance and have a much faster car.

I've just bought a 2002 golf gt tdi 130 and am considering a remap although I'm very impressed with the performance anyway.
At the moment the car seems incredibly quick and i'm very happy with the performance as standard but i'm sure in a few months i'll get used to it, so will probaly get it done eventually.
I read somewhere on this forum the 130 is better than the 150 but can't remember why ? i think it was something to do with the 130 being just the right amount of power for how the car is set up and so the ride is much smoother ? something like that anyway.
