Hi,

So my latest issue is my EML coming on Saturday evening, been fine all day mostly driving in town traffic, got home(engine at normal temp) 10 mins later went out again to a local tyre fitters to get my alignment re-checked free (had it done couple of weeks ago) and noticed while I was driving there my engine management light didn't go out! whilst I was at the garage I asked them if they could check what it was and they plugged in a diagnostic tool snap-on something or other and £10 later it came up with the following code readings printouts from Wilco garage I was at.... (I must note that she hasn't suffered any loss of performance from what I can feel)

So I drove back home with light still on.

After a couple of hours leaving the car to cool, I decided to give her the weekly blast down the A47 as I do mostly town driving and upon starting the car the engine light went out and didn't come back on

I didn't go out anywhere today as it's my b'day and had a few beers :beerchug: but i went out just to see if she would start and if engine light goes out...it did start and engine light went out immediately when engine started

What does this mean? is it bad news??:confused:

Hi,
With the all or nothing nature of that fault I'd be thinking a loom connection or software issue. From my experience with my car it may never come back or it may start to happen more often at which point I'd start to investigate. If you search for glow plug faults you'll find that there is quite an elaborate diagnostic procedure to identify a glow plug fault. Have you a multimeter?

good luck!

This is a swirl flap issue, either the motor or most likely a gunked up intake manifold.

What engine and year is your car?

The car will run fine but it could go into limp mode if it gets really bad.

Merts, buy yourself VCDS, at £263 it's a long term investment, however in my case it's paid for itself a couple of times over in the 16 months I've had it.

Only works on Windows based laptops.

Weird that 5 out of 6 plugs seem to have problems but replacing all may only be circa £60 if you search around, it could be the glow plug control circuit however

As Dan has said the final fault relates to swirl flaps, there is a repair kit for about £14 and I would search for 'swirl flap' in the forum as the repair kit will only solve things temporarily if your intake flaps are bunged up. That said there are those that have driven with the fault for thousands of miles without damage being caused.
