Hey guys!

I have a headlight bulb (xenon, with the blue tint) gone on my 2011 Black Edition A4. Now, i knew that they weren't cheap, but my mechanic (who i trust) is saying that he can't get the blub without going to the Audi garage and that it's going to cost €275 (>€300 when you factor in labour)!!! I nearly fainted...

Is he right? A local parts shop has white xenons for €125, but then i'd have to change both.

I suppose im lucky that it's not the ballast, or something more problematic, but who has €300 for a bulb?? What would a turbo cost? €10,000?!?! A friend of mine jokes re cars that "if you cant afford to run it, then maybe you shouldn't have it", but i mean, €300 for a bulb?? Donald Trump couldn't stick that!!

Just thought i put it out there... Thanks in advance for any comments!!

Na that's rubbish mate, I think they are DS1 bulbs and you can get them for around £50 or less on eBay.

Cheers for the reply M1tchy!

Yea, i was looking on Ebay there and will roll the dice with some bulbs that match the spec of the one i take out. Was tinkering with the headlamp (with the help of YouTube) and it's not that hard/messy to get out. Hopefully i don't **** anything up; you'd be a bit nervous tricking about with a motor like that yourself...

Thanks again!

Yeah it's quite easy to get the bulb out, it's about a quarter of a turn (or less) and pull straight out. Just don't touch the glass of the new one (or the old one if its recently been on).

Not had to replace mine yet, but I have seen videos online showing it. Its a job you can definately do yourself, just as said above, don't touch the bulb (perhaps wear some of those rubber mechanics gloves?).
