2008 Passat RCD300 looking to fit the Connects2

Hi,
Another new user here with a quick question I thought I'd tag on here rather than start a new thread.

Recently got a 2008 Passat with the RCD300 stereo and am looking to fit the Connects2 unit. I've seen the info about the Connects2 states that you might not be able to control the iPhone/ ipod from it's own screen with some stereos though and can only play tracks from the first 6 playlists via the stereo and steering wheel controls, with no access to any tracks as normal via the iPhone/ ipod screen. Is this the case with the RCD300 in the Passat and an iPhone? I'll be connecting an iPhone 4s. Be good to be able to listen to anything in the phone and not just tracks in the 6 playlists, and control via the iPhone screen too.


Any info from those with experience of using it would be greatly appreciated.

Now considering the xcarlink instead. Do I need to in order to have the iPhone screen function still? Prefer to spend less and get the Connects2 if possible.
