View Full Version : Too sensitive traction control on 2001 S6?

Ever since buying my S6 in Feb, I've had an issue where at a set speed (usually 110*), no matter what the road surface, or weather conditions, if driven really hard, wide open throttle, the traction light will flash and the car will hesitate for a couple of seconds before continuing as normal. So why is it happening, and why always at that speed? I've not noticed any other issue with ABS, traction or anything related. I guess first port of call should be a code read, but has anyone seen this before? If it were an ABS sensor or ring I'd expect it to happen more frequently, at varying speeds or trigger a permanent ABS fault. I'm guessing there are G sensors as well, but again when they go iffy usually it's at varying speeds in my experience.
Thanks as usual in advance for any clues.

*Obviously this is only ever on a private test track and is playing havoc with my lap times.

No point in guessing until a fault scan is done.

I realise that, but I wondered if anyone had had the same occur, it might be a pointer in the right direction. Seems very strange to me that it's always at the same speed.......

Could be that an ABS sensor is reaching a particular frequency and causing it.

Managed to borrow a code reader today, no codes stored.

Do some live data recording with VCDS or similar, and watch the outputs of all 4 wheel sensors - the dodgy one will be obvious, probbably just missing a few pulses here and there. Also worth checking all sensors are properly mounted and adjusted, and check the wiring and connectors.
