I have a 2007 A6 with the basic, 2G radio/nav system. All has been fine until Friday when the radio had big problems. Now I can't get many FM stations at all. I've re-scanned the radio station list but either just come up with a couple or none at all.
Any ideas??

Is your car an avant?
If so then look in the passenger side boot side wall for the MMI/Radio/Audio unit to check if the rear washer pipe has split, don't operate the washer until you have checked.
If its a saloon then check the rear demister for damage as the antenna is incorporated into this.
If you have VCDS then get a scan done.

It's a saloon. By the rear demister I assume you mean the heating element "lines" on the back windscreen? I thought the antenna was the 'fin' type bit on the roof?

Roof antenna is for GPS and Phone. radio is in rear window. Could also be the aerial amplifier unit (pretty sure there is one) that has failed

Thanks. I'll have a look and see what I find.

There are two amplifiers in the rear window one on each side.
The centre trim by the window pulls off and you should see both.
Get a a scan done as this will show them at fault if they have fault.
The rear brake light surround is the most likely place to check as this can rub on the element.

Do you use cigar lighter plugin chargers or similar gadgets? I have found the DC-DC chips in these affect the radio, especially when in use.
