Well after quite a journey - mostly down to my company car provider messing me about I have a date of next Friday (26th) for delivery
Cannot wait especially after some of my colleagues who have placed orders within the last 3 weeks yesterday had their orders declined by our lease provider and told to re-quote when facelift is available suggesting the discounts etc will not be as good

OOOh.. you know if I was going back to a 2.0 I think I'd go manual also. I have fond memories of my A4 1.9 TDi avant manual.
I guess I'm spoiled by driving 3.0 TDis with Tiptronic boxes but the Ultra 2.0 S-tronic I drove as a relief car (whilst it was a lovely place to be) felt a little dis-engaged, I just could not seem to get it to perform as I wanted... especially 'cos all of the grunt seems to come in the first 2000 RPM and then the S-tronic shifts up. I guess I just did not get to grips with it... but with a manual you very quickly determine how to work the engine and gearbox (even if it is a little less economical).
I recall driving a manual 2.0 TDi A6 saloon (C6 - but last generation of them) when my C6 3.0 Tdi quattro tiptronic was in for service and being really impressed - by both the acceleration in gear and the economy.

I did want the auto but took me way above my allowance so went manual and had a few extras
Always had manual so doesn't bother me at all
