bluetooth touch adapter screen doesnt come on

hello

im a newbie who has bought a b6 Passat. the car has a Bluetooth touch adapter fitted however it has never come on ie the screen has never lit up nor has the touch screen sat nav ever given me an option for Bluetooth. I went on youtube and the video showed the unit being under the front passenger seat but under mine there isn't anything. the Passat is a 2010 highline +, can anyone help to diagnose this or do I not have the Bluetooth unit therefor the touch adapter is a dud?

Is there a connection harness under the drivers seat that looks like it should be plugged in to something? the touch adaptor on your dash needs a telephone preparation unit under the seat or it wont work, what radio head unit do you have?

ive checked under the driver and passenger seats and the only leads i can see are the ones that are coming from the seats and going under the carpet. im no expert but i suspect that they are the leads for the heated seats. there isnt a unit under the seats either. as for the head unit it is the rns510, i am assuming that i have the touch adapter but no unit which means no bluetooth :-(

To set up Bluetooth with the RNS 510 you will need the kit in the link above, you may find the components cheaper on ebay but the part numbers in the link are up to date, with the right mobile phone this kit will enable:- full access Bluetooth hands free on the RNS510 and the MFSW if you have one, voice control can be set up if you have or install a microphone, MP3 streaming via Bluetooth, But like me, you will end up with a redundant cradle on your dash, the cable runs from the back of the rns to under the drivers seat, there is also a polystyrene holder for the Bluetooth unit do a search for VW Bluetooth kit... HTH
