Audi a6 2008 2.7tdi Le Mans power steering heavy and makes small whining sound

Hi,

I have never posted on here but I have used it for years. I have looked for a solution for my current problem for weeks.

My power steering has started to get heavier than usual. It makes a minor whine when turned either way. It gets worse when on full lock and slightly louder. It almost sounds electrical.

It is stiff all of the time. Straight lines, corners, high and low speed and different temperatures. I'm baffled.

It was serviced 4 month ago and they changed the power steering fluid. It is full when I've checked with no leak.
nothing came up when tested and I've had no lights or messages on the computer. I'm fearing the worst. Pump on its way out?

Did they change it with green hydraulic fluid?

If it's just been changed the colour's easily checked.

Also did you have the problems before the fluid change?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it's green.

I didn't really notice the problem before. The last month it has become apparant. If they put the wrong fluid in I'm not sure if it would be instantly noticeable?
