Hello, any help with this would be greatly appreciated as we're at the end of our tether with this one! We have an Audi A4 Avant (2008) 2.0 SE TDI which we bought just over a year ago from an Audi dealer. In July (just after our warranty ended) I noticed that the car judders whilst in park. It is so bad that if I put my arm on the door it shakes. It also stutters when travelling at low speeds.

It has been in and had the injector wiring fixed & the EGR replaced & whilst it is much better it has not gone completely. The garage I use are completely at a loss & Audi's only suggestion is to leave it with them to 'try' & get to the bottom of it at £90 +vat an hour. Having already spent £800 & still have the problem I'm reluctant to do this unless I can be certain that the fault can be fixed.

It is not showing any faults at this time. I understand their was a recall to the 2008 A4 due to issues with the injectors however having checked with Audi UK it does not relate to my vehicle.

As as I said before any help would be appreciated as it's driving me mad. Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to VWAF :)

When was it last serviced? When was the fuel filter last changed? Have you changed the coolant temperature sensor? Have you changed the thermostat?

Does the temp. gauge reach 90 degrees and hold or does the needle bounce around?

Hi there,

it it is not due for a service for another 204 days/5000 miles. I'm not sure when the fuel filter was changed but the garage checked that & said it's ok. No work has been done around the coolant temperature sensor or the thermostat. I'm reluctant to keep shelling money out on it if it's not going to sort the problem as I could rack up a massive bill & be no further forward.

Im in not sure re the temp I'll keep an eye on it & post again. Sitting in it just now it's at 50 in park having just turned it on & it's shuddering something terrible.

Thanks again for for your help!

Is the shuddering caused by the engine revs hunting? Does it do the same with the aircon on and off?

Not sure why, but mine hunts when the aircon is on, but goes away when I swtch it off?

My car had broken rocker
Hi there,

Sorry for for the delay we've been away on holiday.

Timbo, the sitcom doesn't seem to make a difference although I would say it's worse when it just starts up cold.

Ive had it into an audi specialist & they're not sure what could be causing it. At a guess possibly the dual mast fly wheel although not convinced enough to recommend doing the work. They were very good actually despite not getting to the bottom of it.

Mycarsavw - the temp needle sits on 90 and does not bounce.

Thanks again!

Sitcom is probably more accurate ;)

When you select a hot temperature on the aircon/climate/etc do the air vents blow hot air or is it just warm air?

Injectors is sounding more likely but you'd be getting a fault code. It might be wise to have one of our handy nerds scan it for you to see if VCDS shows anything.

Have a look at our VCDS Member Map (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?5319-Vagcom-VCDS-User-Locations) and see if anyone is close enough to you - let me know who and I'll send them a PM in your behalf to point them towards this thread.
