Gents,

Well 3 days in and I am extremely impressed with my 2.0TDI Multitronic BE Saloon. I had a new 143 Multi B8 A4 in 2009 prior to my BE A5 Coupe which was nice but the 177 Multi A6 is a massive step forward.

As some may recall, I had a S-Tronic Ultra on order only to be informed a few weeks ago that it was not going to be seen. So I looked back at the 5 Series, XF and an E Class but they just all proved to be a none starter for various reasons so I decided to hang on to my A5 until the new year.

But....... Sitting here BH Monday I had a scan of dealer stock demo's and noted that Colchester approved had a rather spec's up Daytona (my A5 is Daytona and this was my second choice after white) for sale. Given I was taking Wifey to Gatwick for a surprise few days in Venice we popped in on our way down last Tuesday afternoon.

To cut a long story (hang on in chaps I now how boring this is...) exchange of emails and calls whilst away, offer made and to my surprise it was excepted provided I could pay and collect before the end of the month which I did... BARGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

So Spec.....

Highlights...
ACC - I have this on my man A5, but on an auto it is just another level. This IMO is a must have option on any car.
Lane assist - Amazing bit of kit and works so well. This has given me more grins than anything.
4x Parking cameras - With such a big car it is proving very handy. Simple things like parking road side and guessing if you are in the lines, top view takes care of it. Pulling out of or as today reversing out on to a road, corner view is proving a godsend.
Lighting pack - LED's inside just add so much class.
LED's - WOW just WOW. I cannot wait until the clocks change so most of my driving is at night. And how cool to they look??? They just lift the front end so much.

The bad bits...
For starters the segmental alloys. They are growing on me though...
Cruise - Up to 40 mph my A5 lifts in 2.5mph increments which is handy. The A6 doesn't.
Glovebox - I had a lovely little tray in the lid for coinage. A6 nothing.
Oh and missing my flat bottom steering wheel.

Overall the ride is sublime, the engine whisper quiet and the cabin is a wonderful place to sit, it is a real cruiser. Yes I would have loved the new Ultra/S-Tronic but do you know what I would not be without the spec and toys my new ride has...

Finally, a pic took walking back to the car after crabbing at Walberswick today to complete youngest's summer holiday before going back to school.

Oh and I have a VERY spec'd up BE A5 Coupe in Daytona for sale...

Nice spec, can't wait to pick my A6 ultra BE up. Feels like an age since I ordered it at the beginning of June. Due 2nd week October.

Nice spec and the alloys are some of the best Audi do. Wish I had specced my car with them but in a 19"!

That car is loaded!

i think you're right about the wheels being a bit marmite but in the picture posted the car looks pretty good.

My car is 2 days old 2.0 BE stronic ,had a good days driving yesterday, but 2 things went wrong? today,
I got in the car and tried to start the engine and it came up with a message Car does not recognise the key, tried several times nothing,so took my other key and this worked straightaway, went for a ride, shut down and tried the original key and it worked.Spoke with sales lady who spoke with a master technician and they said maybe the key was in the same pocket as my mobile phone .Keep an eye on it sort off.Has anybody has this happen to them?
I went for a drive later with the original key no problem, and i tried to fold mirrors as i have the folding mirror option by using the door mirror switch to 6 o clock position while i was driving and it worked once, tried it on the return journey home and it wouldnot work ,can someone please explain how is this supposed to work?Does the car have to be stationary
or have i got a fault? There is nothing in the manual how to fold the car mirrors manually.
Hope this does not spoil a good experience of a lovely car in other respects.
Thanks
Roy.

Had the car not recognise the key a couple of times. Easy way to resolve it to hold the key close to the area on the dash above the RH ac controls (you will see a key emblem embossed in the panel) and that reassigns the key to the car. If you ever have to start the car using the emergency key you need to hold it there while you press the start button. can't help on the mirrors, sorry

Thanks for the tip,I was holding the key to the left of the stop start switch to see if it would start engine as per handbook. What is an emergency key?I have been given 2 proper Audi keys and 1 plastic key to lock or unlock door,Car is Ultra new car.
Thanks Roy.

The plastic key is the emergency key and will allow you to start the car as well as unlock or lock the car. In fact (I believe) if you do not start the car within a short period of time of unlocking the car with that key the alarm will go off. Do not leave that key in the car as some seem to do as thieves have found it to be an easy way to steal Audis as was reported widely in the press recently

My mirrors fold whilst the car is moving by turning the mirror adjustor switch to the 6 o'clock position. A very useful feature I use regularly when navigating a local width restrictor with metal posts either side.

My mirrors fold in when moving but I think it needs to be below 30kph. The only reason I know this is I had to fold them while driving down a narrow street with a van coming towards me. I then tried it at a higher speed and it wouldn't work.

Update.......... Yes LED's AGAIN...

I have been out tonight and the drive home along country lanes was an absolute delight, the LED's are just amazing. The range, spread and brightness is a major step up from xenons.

Nice playing with the LED mood lighting indoors also.

MPG......Norwich and back today including a drive into the city centre and averaged 51.4mpg on the DIS which I am very happy with.

Cameras........Finding these an absolute godsend. Parking against the curb and within lines is really useful.

All in all no complaints at all and it surprises how swift it feels in comparison to my 177 A5 Coupe.

With the announcement this week on the FL I am pleased that my Ultra order was suspended and I ended up with this massive spec'd 177 which will do me nicely until the FL flurry settles down, the S-Tronic issue sorts itself out and some demo stock starts hitting the dealers.
