As per the title and shown (hopefully) in the attached picture.

I have a black edition saloon with Bose. I was loading a couple of cases into the boot when I looked under to see if it was clear and spotted a speaker missing!

Can an anyone else check if they have this? I can't think of any reasonable explanation why this is as it is.

I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow.

Mine only has one.

I think subs are non-directional and are ok for a single/mono setup.

It's the subwoofer location in the saloon.

Where is the location on the avant?

Exactly the sale on mine. Can only think it may be because of the Bang and Olufsen option which make the boot about 2 " shallower.

Can only assume the B&O option results in twin enclosed sub's rather than a single free air unit.

Where is the location on the avant?

It sits in the spare wheel well.

Mystery solved then :)

Found this online too. It's obviously engineered to not need altering for right hand drive models as the large speaker on the parcel shelf is on the left hand side always.

Thanks all!! Maybe Chris can mark this as a question answered or something?

As far as I'm aware the B&O system (made by Philips) uses the same locations as the standard components, so the subs are still one under the rear parcel shelf and one in the spare wheel well.

The 'improvements' in the B&O system are partly in superior components but mainly in digital signal processing.

As I'm sure you are aware, even the most basic A6's use DSP to cut the internal background noise and the BiTDi pipes fake exhaust noise into the cabin. The B&O system just takes this a bit further.

Is the part about the Bitdi correct? I always thought the sound actuators were in the exhaust and nothing came through the cars internal sound system. That's why, unlike the BMW 535d, the sound is the same to people outside as it is in. Certainly doesn't sound like it's coming through the speakers on mine.

I agree. I think the sound only goes outside.

There are 3 parts to the system.

Speakers in the firewall and windscreen base
Speakers in the exhaust
The digital sound processor that ties it all together with the active volume control in the cabin

Self study programme 603 (2012 Audi Avant) describes how it works. Also self study programme 604 describes the BiTDi motor in some detail and includes the active sound exhaust.
