The "Little things that annoy you" is a popular thread here, so I thought I'd try the opposite: what little things make you sit back and say "Nice"?
My starters for 10:
Boot release on the keyfob pings the boot open, great for finding the car in big car parks
Footwell lights are LEDs
Little hooks in the boot for hanging bags
Voice control actually works (never used it in my C6 as it was rubbish)
I can check the oil from the MMI, never could read it from the dipstick on my C6.
Powered fold up mirrors make me smile every time, especially the dip when reversing.

Personally, I think It's all nice. It's the only car I've had that makes me smile every time I get in it.:drive:

Cannot find anything bad, all is nice in my A6 :)
- The color DIS is amazing, what other car has something so cool?
- Voice command can be temperamental, but it works
- The Bose has really good sound
- Love the Beam Assist
- The ACC has made queues such a difference
- Anything in this car makes the wife giggle

Good idea for use of the boot release.

I adore the lighting pack, the way the car lights up when you unlock it and the led strips in the door cards. Superb.

Nice thread :fing02:
After experiencing A4 Sline’s I was delighted at how supple and comfortable the A6’s suspension was in comparison. I’m also still discovering new things 3 months in. For example, I had no idea I had a retractable mesh rear screen/blind until a few days ago :Blush2:
Also, Voice control button > navigation > postcode actually works even with a Glaswegian accent :biglaugh:

Hi Guys
We have only had my car for 2weeks and have loads of questions. Its a 2012 A6 Avant SE and it makes us feel very special every time we drive it as we have come from a Fiesta ST.
Can you please tell me can you set the foot well lights to be on all the time and our passenger mirror doesn't dip when we select reverse.
I cant believe how smooth the car is.

Not sure if you need the lighting pack, but I have a variable setting in the MMI. You might need a VCDS tweak for the mirror dip:

It's mostly the driving experience for me...
Understated look for the performance of the BiTdi.
Sports diff - now I understand how much more assistance it provides over Quattro.
Brakes, notablyvery little fade.
Auto cruise control - I miss this everytime I drive cars without.
Driver control, all the instantaneous wizardry that takes inputs, analyses and delivers what you want - brings driving with no drama.

I love the HUD / Lighting pack at night (scuff plates and door handles etc) / Sat nav when using Google maps.
Bi-TDI for the next one, the only thing I REALLY want that my car lacks.

Footwell lights requires the lighting pack, although there may be a VCDS tweek to enable this. Mirror dip can definitely be activated via VCDS. Struggle to understand why my wife's £20k golf has both as standard yet my £30k Audi requires selection of options to have these included

The noise the central locking makes.
The rear lights are really growing on me now.

Only noticed this the other day after having the car for a year!
If you have the sun visor down with the mirror slider open, the little courtesy light comes on. So what you might think, but if you then push the sun visor futher forward towards the windshield, the light goes off. it's as if the car knows you cant see yourself in the mirror anymore, so decides to switch the light off! Very elegant. The designer has really thought this through.

Today I discovered the shift lights when in manual and using the lap timer. Very cool - thanks to my co-driver for the photo!

On the theme of surprise and delight , although I do not own a C7 , I did have a sit inside one at a dealer yesterday. Audio quality means a lot to me and the standard audio on my C6 is surprisingly good.
I know that there is a Bose option for about £1000 and even a B&O for £6K.
I'm glad to say that the standard 10 speaker audio system on the C7 does not drop the ball at all.
I am umming about getting a C7 and it seems a facelift is due quite soon so I shall hold fire. I want a S-line in Ibis White. The quattro seems to work out at almost £10k more than the ultra.

The Quattro is the one to go for if finances allow. The roadholding is unbelievable and the tiptronic box sublime.

The facelift has already been announced and the order book will open very shortly, look further down this forum for post regarding the facelift. Quattro is only available with the various 3.0 engines and are all Auto. the Ultra is currently 2.0 engine, although as part of the facelift a 3.0 Ultra will also be introduced. The 2.0 Ultra is only available as FWD and there is both manual and auto gearboxes, so there are many things that add up to at the £10k price difference (actually it is about £8k with the manual Ultra to the 204PS Quattro and factoring the auto the price change is only £6.5k
I have a C6 quattro Le Mans so I probably will miss the quattro if I go Ultra so it will probably end up being the quattro.
I had a listen to the Bose and I actually preferred the standard Audi system. I also really like the look of the black edition but it comes with Bose as part of the spec , which I would rather not have. I would have to add the Black styling pack to a S-line. Also although I like type titanium-look of the alloys , I don't want 20" alloys , prefer 19" or even 18".
The trouble is with all the little toys I want probably adds up to around £££ more. Like black styling, head-up display (although I need to to see a demonstration of this) , touchscreen display, folding door mirrors.
Btw, I thought the quattros now come with S-tronic and that only the biturbo diesels getting tiptronic. Incidentally my C6 is tiptronic quattro.

FYI the Bose on the C7 A6 was pretty naff with the early software, but one of the MMI software updates they did massively improved things with it :). That said, I'm not really sure it's really worth £1K over stock and TBH is only on a par with the standard 12-speaker system my previous Lexus had.
My other half had a 2003 TT which had Bose and I was underwhelmed with that too. The only thing Bose that I rate is the iPhone sounddock which I happen to have. I'm not a fan of their home cinema surround sound satellites effort either but they have established their brand name there's no denying it , but I digress. Audio is a v personal thing , and it's about being happy with the sound rather than it being right for everyone. The Bose seemed to lack treble to me whereas the Audi system did not and also sounded more nuanced. The Bose was bassier but I think some prefer that sort of sound. This was my impression of the 2003 TT and also the c6.

When I said Auto I was including all cars with only 2 pedals so S-Tronic and Tiptronic, and yes only the BiTDi gets the Tiptronic box, all others get the dual clutch S-Tronic box. Also the A6 does not have a touchscreen display. If you get the 3G+ Navigation system then you have a touch panel for entering data into the navigation system, but that is all. The rest of the MMI system is controlled by the rotary knob and the buttons
As I'm not left handed I would have to train myself to to write on a touchpad. I do like the bigger LCD screen , is that MMI high ?
Can anyone comment on how much the HUD helps ? Or does anyone have one but just doesn't bother with it anymore , can it be a nuisance ? Can it even be turned off ?

HUD is great! I had it on the Lexus as it was standard fit, and really miss it on the A6 :(. Really useful for keeping your eyes on the road rather than staring at the dash watching the speedo.

It's really easy to use the touch pad. No training needed and don't need to stop looking at the road. It's awesome.
As for the HUD, it's fantastic. Just distracting driving a car without it now as I have to look elsewhere for speed and nav data.

Yes the larger screen is MMI High and you also get the HDD based navigation and the touch pad with that. Best to go for the Tech Pack as that then includes (or did pre facelift) AMI and Colour DIS. The MMI High system has been upgraded as part of the facelift and it looks as if the map can be displayed in the instrument panel as well as on the pop out screen. It also uses a faster chip and on the A7 the Tech Pack bundle now includes HUD but the price of the pack has also gone up.
