Hi folks,

Picked up my new A6 Avant today, if it would stop raining I could go out and get a closer look at it.

First question of many to come :D

When I picked the car up the stereo was off and I had to turn it on. The two short journeys since then have both had the stereo coming on automatically, which I don't want. It used to happen in my old A6 and my A5 courtesy car. It's not as simple as turning off the stereo before I turn the engine off on the previous journey as I've tried that many times.

Any ideas anyone?

If you press and hold the volume button it shuts down the whole of the MMI system and it does not come on again when you restart the car. Dealers seem to do this often when they are working on the car as mine was like that after I had it serviced. Unfortunately with the MMI switched off it also does not connect a phone or do any of the other stuff you may want. There does not seem to be away to turn the radio off and have everything else working.

On a more positive note hope you are pleased with this car and you can now draw a line under the past few months!

exactly as above. A long push and hold until everything shuts down. The downside is you can't have the satnav, bluetooth etc working while its in this state.

With MMI/radio turned off, Bluetooth is still working for receiving calls; at least mine (MY12) works so that the MMI opens when call is coming. Naturally you cannot make calls with MMI or DIS, but you may still use speed dials or whatever in the phone and then use handsfree via BT.

Thanks everyone.

After 2 road trips over the weekend I think I've sussed out most of the features in the car. I'm so glad I stuck with the A6, it's easily the best car I've ever owned, and in BE spec it's a thing of beauty too. I notice it may have had an unloved first 6k miles to its life, there are quite a few scrathces here or there, nothing a good polish and wax won't fix though. :D

Good to hear all has worked out.

I picked my ex demo up on Saturday and although there is the odd chip and nick there is nothing more than it would had from new with me. Like you I will have the Megs DA out on it and it will be as new.

When I had my order suspended I did look at an E Class for just ten mins in the ******** and soon walked away thinking 'nah'.....
