i would like to check intermittent abs light code which came after rear brakes were replaced.
how much do these cost and can someone link me to the cheapest solution? it would cost £50-60 to get the garage to do a diagnostic.

rather than pay to have that done, i might consider getting a unit which also adjusts power/economy. would this be safe to fit to a 2001 1.9TDi 115KW engine with 220,000 miles on it?
for power/economy i see the following:
(chipexpress) engine-specific, engine-mounted unit for £400
(ebay) internal OBD2-port-mounted unit for £120
(ebay) engine-mounted unit for £42 which takes 200km to read enough data before it becomes effective
(ebay) cheap £17 unit which basically pretends the air is cooler (probably ruining economy and emissions, and debatably adding power)

Where abouts in the UK are you? There are lots of people on here who are willing to help members with scans etc for beer tokens.

my 16-pin port is in the rear ashtray. march 2001 model. any idea if OBD1 or OBD2?
